The importance of TOYS
Toys are not just to provide play. Actually the early stages of play are more one on one than it is with inanimate objects. Toys provide much more than entertainment. They are objects of smell, taste, touch and sound. The more a puppy startles the more neurons that develop. It teaches a puppy to ‘bounce back’ from startling things and it allows puppies to adjust to a changing environment. I have fun finding new and creative ways to provide all types of stimulation to my puppies. The more a puppy can create it’s own stimulation the better. In other words, I feel it’s much better for a puppy to bump into or trip over an object and learn about it’s feet, what it is like to be surprised or even what it feels like to hurt for a second, then it is for a human to put these experiences ‘on’ the puppy artificially. A rich environment is a 24 hour a day opportunity for neurological stimulation and development.
