I’m not a Mall worshiper but every few years or so i make the journey. I’ve gone for the 2006, 2010, 2011 and 2013 litters. I don’t care for the noise and chaos of a mall until I want to socialize puppies… then it’s perfect.
Yesterday I took my pilgrimage to the Factoria Mall. I left the big guys at home so the puppies could start developing some autonomy. The Mall is about 20 minutes away and travel with the puppies these days is a breeze. They’re setting nicely, no one is getting car sick (Red was car sick for the first two weeks) and they’re doing an excellent job waiting at the entrance to the crate before getting out. That part is pretty critical, since opening a crate in any parking lot is dangerous.. especially when it’s full of puppies.
My plan was to take each puppy for a walk through the main mall area. It was a great success but i think the last few puppies were getting tired by the time their turn came. I was getting tired too! It took over 2 hours to get all the puppies done.
I video taped all but the first puppy… duh. It didn’t occur to me until after I had taken Orange through the paces. He did a fantastic job so I wish I had a film for his owner. I had a bag full of equipment: Pee pad, paper towels, water, leash with a toy attached and of course treats. The video is choppy since I was controlling a puppy with one hand and filming with the other. I also edited a bit… it would have been way too long in its entirety.
